Horticultural Innovations Ltd was incorporated in July 1999 with Directors and Shareholders Peter and Danny Bennett. Peter and Danny were also owners of Waipopo Orchards Ltd who have been operating since 1986 with orchards growing apples and stone fruit. Waipopo had its own Packing facility and following deregulation of the Pip Fruit industry in 2001 they developed their own export markets and hence established a role as an exporter.
As an exporter Waipopo Orchards Ltd has been sending wooden export bins of apples to be packed overseas for a number of years.
INCORPORATED SINCE 1999
Peter and Danny sold the Waipopo Orchards business in January 2018 and are now devoting their energies and experiences into Horticultural Innovations Ltd to service the industry they know so well.
Horticultural Innovations Ltd was originally formed to market the reflective mulch “Britenup” a reflective polyethylene film for use under fruit trees to improve fruit colour. Bird scare tape and tree tying systems have also been a focus.
When travelling to overseas markets Peter and Danny have come across and developed many innovative products which they brought back to the New Zealand and Australian markets. Their own orchards have been used to test these products before marketing them.
The Universal Trellis Clip was developed from the need to firmly anchor trees to the trellis wires in fruit tree plantings. They had been using plastic clips, rubber ties, tape and staples but all either had no longevity, strength and were time consuming to apply and still the trees were not held firmly enough. The advent of the Universal Tree Clip solved the problem with its unique securing system that was so easy and quick to apply.
